Last time I promised that every yard of dirt that leaves the bucket has to end up somewhere, measured, not trusted. So the game now keeps a ledger: ten times a second it adds up what's in the ground, in every bucket, in the truck and in the air.
This one is the proof, plus two new machines to throw the dirt around: a 20-ton dozer whose first design couldn't have been built, and a wheel loader that filled its own bucket standing still, rolled over and launched at 87 mph, and then learned to plan its own route and do three-point turns. Along the way the ledger caught the dozer lying about how much it cut, and a hidden switch in the physics engine turned out to have been off the whole time. And every shot in this one was filmed by the game itself, from a script, with no one on the controller.
Four machines, 42 yards of dirt moved, and the worst it was ever off: 0.016%.
